A fruitful, forlorn conversation between our two heroes, George Noory and THUNDERCLAP.
lyrics
Let’s imagine for a few minutes that our lives, this reality, was an epic adventure story, the type of lasting fable that old people tell to the young when times are calm and the mood is just right.
Let’s imagine that we’re in a humble enclosure where the walls are stuffed with straw and clay; that the room is lit by candlelight, and we're cooking our food and warming ourselves by the crackling fire.
Let’s imagine that in this hero’s journey our lives had a plot line dictating that our destiny was led by the back and forth battle of good and evil. If this were the case, which side would you be on? How hard would you try to live your life by society's rules? Where your moral instinct leads you down the right path, the path of the golden rule (as it were), the path that treats every man equal. Yes, let’s get our kicks, but just as long as we don’t hurt anyone, is that so hard? Is that too much to ask? There’s so many reasons to be negative nowadays…
Agreed!
Oh, hello, THUNDERCLAP! I didn’t see you there.
Haha, oops, I didn’t mean to startle ya, George. May I?
Oh yes, by all means!
Well, my thought is that there's so many opportunities to be competitive against your neighbour, and so many reasons to cause divisiveness for the purpose of feeling righteous.
I couldn’t agree more.
Not trying to pat myself on the back, but I always prided myself on the fact that I didn’t have to be a coke fiend to get it up; I could get it up by clean living. Actually, I could get it up harder and longer with clean living and honest intentions, but it’s not a contest, I’m just saying…
And although what I just said hinted at the idea of righteousness, it wasn’t my intention. All I’m trying to say, is-
Stop rocking the boat! Yes, haha…
I wouldn’t have exactly put it that way, but… anyways, may I?
Yes of course, after you!
Well, if it all went sideways and you lived in a village running around half naked, hunting and gathering, and you know, indulging in some sticks and stones etcetera… a great many of us might be conducting ourselves a great deal different then we are now. Your priorities would be unrecognizable, life would revert to a trusting eye-to-eye handshake and each person’s reputation.
Like it or not, survival of the fittest would be at play. Pain in the ass instigators, gossipers, thieves and complainers would be undoubtedly left behind in the desert to die.
But for now, access to the world and all of its knowledge is at our beck and call, right at our fingertips… Impressive! I’m sure you’re all using it to the best of your abilities and imagination.
Wonderful Niagara-based musicians who I'm proud to call my pals. Their latest album is a folky/bluegrass delight that tugs at the heartstrings. Thunderclap!
The title is an attention-getter to be sure, but this collection of trippy psych-pop more than earns it with its wavy, acid-laced melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 17, 2021
A hushed and low-lit EP from this Melbourne musician, where dreamlike melodies drift across a bed of tender guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 19, 2023
