Watch THUNDERCLAPs paper doll come alive for just one night. He regales us with tales of the Littlest Monster and ponders the subject of escapism. What IS all this dressing up about? Where did it come from? Well, beyond the actual historical sources, we all just want to be someone else once in awhile. Whether it be shallow or profound, we all have our reasons; so if only for one night, lets be someone else, shall we?
As adults we enjoy remembering how we loved halloween as a kid, as most kids do. Ohhh the fleeting memories of being in school assemblies cross legged on the floor singing weird songs about black cats walking on old fences in the middle of the night, carving pumpkins and imagining harmless ghosts living their lives while we humans observe them from a far, & SINGING about them as children no less. Do they know we’re singing songs about them? And lets not forget about the endless candy, all the dressing up like someone or something else, what a grand masquerade!
lyrics
The Littlest Monster...
As the door slammed shut, we see the littlest monster of the clan, she’s
arisen from her slumbers and sees its 3 AM, and peeping out the window
sees her family off to lurk, after all it is the best time of the night,
to do good work!
- Cut to the mirror down the hall, she drapes a cape of spiders on.
She feigns a scowl, then spreads her wings; and on her arm a
taxidermied owl is gently humming…
- Lets forget about us tonight, let’s forget about us tonight, tomorrows
coming; lets start running. Let’s forget about us tonight.
- So when the littlest monster hits the town, she does her best to scare,
the townsfolk young & old, & rich & poor without a care. We all want
to be someone else when tired of being ourselves, whether it be
Godzilla, Popeye the Sailor, or Vlad The Impaler.
- Oh hear the trees creak in the wind, yes quality work’s been done
tonight. The littlest monster’s feeling proud, & upon inspection of the
sky, she howls and moans out-loud…
- Lets forget about us tonight, let’s forget about us tonight, tomorrows
coming; lets start running. Lets forget about us… We never existed,
we’ll never let on, that we ever existed, yea right through the night,
straight through to the dawn, lets forget about us…
- It can all be such a scramble in the brambles of this life, if there’s no
such thing as reality, then how real are we? It’s comforting to
count on our little plans, it’s simply precious, but our ritualistic habits
‘as we live and breath’ are reckless. Day after day, it confines us to
one recognizable face, an indelible mask to count on, to look out
from & upon it, its suspect to say the very least, but suitable for some
unsavoury vegetables and the recently deceased.
