He still can’t sleep as the dusty heater hangs humming from the ceiling, and the albatross still hovers above him. He still can’t eat and the chores sit all around him untouched, yet the albatross still hovers above him

“The bloody bird left you, and now it’s with me,” he thought, “And once it leaves me it will inevitably be with him or her, them or they, it’s with all of us, each one of us individually or together, we can’t kill it, and we shall not blame it.”

While the albatross hangs there in the air hovering above him, he contemplates, then concludes, and mutters in a soft, ugly way… “ohh, I zigged when I should have zagged!” and whether there was any break or brevity in the lag, the albatross would still hover above him
